Blue Mountain School is a contemplative progressive school that has been serving the New River Valley for nearly 40 years. The contemplative progressive model is supported by a body of research showing that an education promoting Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) puts students on the pathway for success in school and later in life.
The Blue Ridge Center for Chinese Medicine is a non-profit healthcare center that provides acupuncture and therapeutic bodywork, plus exercise and internal martial arts classes. A Chinese medicinal herb garden supports the clinic with fresh, local Chinese medicinal herbs and our Growers Consortium will soon supply domestically grown herbs to acupuncturists across the nation.
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Virginia transforms the lives of local children through nationally accredited, evidence-based programming. We provide high-quality and affordable after school care and summer enrichment activities to youth ages 6-18 from throughout the New River Valley.
A brain injury occurs every 17 seconds in the U.S. It can happen to anyone, without regard to age, race, or socio-economic status. There is no cure for brain injury, but with the help of BISSWVA, there is hope.
The purpose of the Fund is to provide scholarships to graduating seniors from Floyd County, Virginia, and additional jurisdictions served by Citizens, to attend any 2 or 4-year college, university, trade or technical school.
The Claytor Lake State Park Ambassadors group helps conserve the park's natural, cultural, scenic and recreational resources. The group also promotes environmental stewardship and lends a hand with various recreational and educational activities.
