Claytor Lake State Park Ambassadors

The Claytor Lake State Park Ambassadors group helps conserve the park's natural, cultural, scenic and recreational resources. The group also promotes environmental stewardship and lends a hand with various recreational and educational activities.

Mission:

To act as a non-profit Citizen Support Organization assisting in conserving the natural, cultural, scenic and recreational resources of Claytor Lake State Park; to assist in providing a variety of recreational and educational opportunities; and to assist in promoting environmental stewardship.

Vision:

CLSPA will strive to see that CLSP facilities remain at, or are improved to, ideal standards and that funding is made available for projects and programs that benefit patrons, all while conserving the natural environment of the park.

The Claytor Lake State Park Ambassadors are currently seeking donations for the following:
Special Event Mobile Stage

The Ambassadors will be providing the park with a mobile stage trailer to use for live music, special events, and educational programming. The current trailer is only bare bones and metal framing. Donations to finish and finalize the trailer are desired.

Ambassador Projects Completed

1.      Accessible Fishing Platform
In 2017, the Ambassadors funded and installed an accessible fishing platform located at the park’s Marina.

2.      Playground engineered wood fiber chips
In 2018, the Ambassadors provided the park with engineered wood fiber chips for the park’s two playgrounds. The engineered wood fiber replaced the much denser and less forgiving landscaping mulch.

3.      Park Digital Signage
In 2018, the Ambassadors provided the park with two digital signs located at the Park Office and at the Water’s Edge Meeting Facility/Gift Shop. The signs cycle through a variety of information for park visitors.

4.      Special Events and Haunted House
The Ambassadors lend a hand for several of the park’s special events such as the Obstacle Course Race, Triathlon, and the Summer Festival. The Ambassadors also help set up, staff, and operate the park’s Haunted House in the fall.

5.      Gazebo Repairs
The Ambassadors have hired a contractor to make Wedding Gazebo repairs this Spring.
