The LMI Opportunity Fund helps create more favorable conditions for low-to-moderate income (LMI) children and families to utilize their own inner resources to move out and stay out of poverty. The fund provides programs and interventions that build locally inclusive economies where all people possess the resources to meet their basic and higher-order needs.
Fight Childhood hunger through food reclamation and weekend backpack programs. A $150 donation sponsors one child’s weekend meals for the school year and summer; a $420 gift sponsors 120 children’s meals for one weekend.
Increase Educational Outcomes through afterschool enrichment programs that increase engagement, provide high quality enrichment, and build pro-social involvement. During last fiscal year, volunteers provided 6,000 hours mostly helping children with homework and providing enrichment. Funding these volunteer relationships cost about $5 per hour. A $500 gift helps fund 100 hours.
Improve Economic Opportunity through savings programs that help pay for school and micro-entrepreneurship programs that create jobs. Data suggests for every $1 invested in micro-enterprise programs, $30 is returned to the local economy. A $100 gift creates a $3,000 local return.
