Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Virginia is proud serve the New River Valley with two unique mentoring programs. We are committed to serving children facing adversity in Pulaski and Blacksburg with the programs that they need. Help us support these programs by giving to Big Brothers Big Sisters through Give Big NRV. When you donate to Big Brothers Big Sisters, you are there for hundreds of kids who need a positive role model in their lives.
In Pulaski, we have the school based program. Volunteers visit children one hour per week at their schools during the school day. They mentor the children and work on educational and craft projects while spending quality time together.
In Blacksburg, we have the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center Mentoring Program.
The Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center Mentoring Program allows volunteer Bigs to meet with their Littles once a week at the VTCRC site. During this time, they participate in STEM focused activities together!
By partnering with parents/guardians, volunteers and others in the community we are accountable for each child in our program achieving:
1) Higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships
2) Avoidance of risky behaviors
3) Educational Success
For more than 60 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southwest Virginia has operated under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. Most children served by Big Brothers Big Sisters live in single-parent and low-income families, or households where a parent is incarcerated
