Blacksburg Refugee Partnership
Doing the work of resettlement with love
The goal of the Blacksburg Refugee Partnership is to welcome refugee families to Blacksburg and to a life of safety, peace, opportunity, and hope.
Many individuals, organizations, and faith communities collaborate to support this effort. We welcomed a Syrian family of 8 in October 2016 followed by an Afghani family of 6 and another Syrian family of 7 in February 2017. Our newest arrivals are three single women with four children between them. All were fleeing violence in their home countries and all were fully and thoroughly vetted before being granted sanctuary in the United States.
These refugee families are adjusting well and settling into routines at work, school, and home. Volunteers are providing translation, English language tutoring, transportation, recreation, and friendship. These families need our continued financial support with housing and medical expenses.
BRP appreciates your financial support and promises to use it exclusively for the direct benefit of these families.
