Bridging the Gap

Did you know that a Blue Mountain School education costs about $750 more per student than our tuition rate?

With an average of 55 students, that's a difference of over $41,000 every year.

And even though we charge less for a BMS education than it actually costs, nearly 60% of our families still receive some form of tuition assistance to be able to attend.

Every year, we experience a significant gap between our tuition income and the actual costs of operating our school (such as staff salaries, student programs, facilities maintenance).

Help us Bridge the Gap by making your donation today!

BMS is an Important Part of the New River Valley

BMS has been a model for holistic education for children from preschool through Middle School for nearly 40 years.

Many families choose BMS because our core values complement their own. We spend significant time in nature each day and practice mindfulness as a tool to increase our capacity for learning and self-awareness. We focus on learning through caring, meaningful relationships, and we implement an emergent curriculum inspired by student interests.

A Life-Changing Option for Children Experiencing Difficulties Adapting to Other School Settings

About 10% of our students have learning challenges such as sensory disorders and autism spectrum disorders. Other students come to BMS after struggling with more traditional educational practices focused on rote learning, testing, and rigid disciplinary strategies.

Our focus on social-emotional development, smaller class sizes, and progressive educational practices help students find success and belonging at school. At BMS, students are seen and heard as individuals: here, they matter.

We’re Seeing Double - Donations Matched!

A group of BMS friends and family have pledged to match up to $6,000 in donations on Give Big Day. Every dollar you give works twice as hard on April 24th!

Can We Reach 110 Donors? Help Us Win!

Last year, we raised nearly $13,000 from 90 donors. This year we are shooting for $20,000 from 150 donors. We can do it!

The organization in Floyd County with the most unique donors on Giving Day will receive a $1,000 award from the CFNRV!

Everyone in your family can be a donor: Mom, Dad, Grandmas, Grandpas, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Kids, Grandkids...

And don’t forget your co-workers, neighbors, and friends! Remember, the minimum to donate is only $10. That’s less than a bucket of cookie dough or a pizza kit, and every penny helps to make sure as many families as possible can be a part of Blue Mountain School.

Don't Wait to Donate -- Schedule Your Donation Now

You don’t need to wait to to click the button. Do it now!

At the bottom of the donation page, you’ll see that "Charge Date" is already set to April 24. You’ll receive a confirmation email immediately, but your donation won’t be processed until GiveBigDay. (Don't be worried if the email says that your donation was for $0.00. Read on, and it will show you your scheduled amount.)

If you'd prefer to donate by cash or check, email us with your pledge amount, and we'll make sure your donation is entered for GiveBig Day.
