As an affiliate of the nation’s leading dropout prevention organization, Communities In Schools of New River Valley (CIS of NRV) has partnered with Floyd and Pulaski County Public Schools to connect our students of greatest need to the services they require most. Whether it’s a new set of eyeglasses, mentoring support or basic health needs that are preventing our students from achieving their academic potential, we have a proven track record of keeping our kids in school.
By placing site coordinators in our partnering schools, we are able to identify individual needs in students and families, and then work with local services providers, businesses, volunteers, and other partners to effectively link those needs to quality services. Through a school-based site coordinator, CIS breaks down non-academic barriers to success by connecting students and their families to critical community resources that address needs.
Our effectiveness is captured by our ability to monitor and track, through our National database, everything we do with our students and families, grades, attendance, behavior, parent/teacher feedback, and partner reports.
