The Foundation for Amateur International Radio Service focuses on building global friendships through the usage of Amateur Radio. For directors David and Gaynell Larsen the foundation is more the communicating all across the world via amateur radio, but for service to those in need. Each year FAIRS transports thousands of dollars of radio equipment, medicines, supplies, and many other items to areas of the world in need. Local churches also partner on the initiative to help spread the word of Gospel throughout those countries as well. FAIRS especially has a soft spot in their heart for a small Caribbean country of Dominica. In 2009 FAIRS decided to move a greater focus into their home community of Floyd by beginning a Floyd Amateur Radio Society (FARS), Community Garden, and offering internships to local students.
FAIRS is a very diverse organization catering to help support their local community and communities abroad. The directors strive to be good stewards of all funds that are received and work diligently to multiply the funds. FAIRS will use any donation regardless of amount to better communities across the globe. Also no donations are used for employee salaries or travel, but are used to benefit those who are in need.
