The campus of the Giles County Historical Society
is located at 208 N. Main Street, Pearisburg. The campus features, the Andrew Johnston House, home of one of Giles County's first settlers, built in 1829. Dr. Harvey Green Andrew’s “Doctor's Office" built by Andrew Johnston's son, in 1857. The Historical Museum, which features collections reflecting the county's history from prehistoric times to the early 20th century. And, the Research Office, where hundreds of visitors have researched genealogy and local history.
The Giles County Historical Society is an active organization hosting many workshops and events focusing on the unique history of the people and times of Giles County, such as "Ghosts of the Civil War" “The Civil War in Giles “Treasures in the Courthouse: How to Research County Records”, “Mystery at Mountain Lake”, “Storytelling and Ballads in the Appalachian Tradition” ,“The Negro Spiritual: History and Performance” History Adventure Camp!,
