The Montgomery County Friends of Animal Care and Control (FACC) is the 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of homeless animals in Montgomery County, Virginia through the Montgomery County Animal Care and Adoption Center by providing financial support, foster home, dedicated volunteers, community education, and outreach.
Since 2006, FACC has helped increase adoption and rescue rates. In 2016, the live release rate was over 90% and we experienced our lowest euthanasia rate in our history at 5% and most of those were due to aggression issues. In 2015 we started a fund at Mountain View Humane to assist owners who otherwise would not have been able to afford to spay/neuter their pets. We've socialized dogs, funded veterinary care, and transported dogs to vet clinics and rescue groups.
FACC is dedicated to improving and saving the lives of animals at the Montgomery Animal Care and Adpotion Center (ACAC) by:
-providing financial assistance for veterinary and behavorial care
-placing animals transferred into the care of FACC into temporary and safe foster homes until a FACC approved permanent home is found
-recuiting and training volunteers on activities that benefit the animals at the ACAC
-educating and promoting the importance of spaying and neutering animals and providing financial assistance when possible to owners that cannot afford these services
-developing, implementing and assisting the ACAC with outreach and marketing activities that promote ACAC and foster animals in the New River Valley
-partnering and collaborating with other organizations for the betterment of animals
In December 2015 a groundbreaking was held for a NEW county animal shelter. FACC is proud to partner with the county on this venture. The new shelter opened in April 2017 and will begin to shelter cats as well as dogs.
Please consider helping us take care of the homeless pets of Montgomery County!
