Project CRIB (Creating Readers Infancy and Beyond) was established to address family literacy especially in homes of economic disparity. The goal is to make sure there are books in homes beginning at birth and establish family contact through my Facebook page, That Book Lady including simple user-friendly information and suggestions.
Project CRIB collaborates with NRV Pediatrics' Reach Out and Read Initiative by purchasing quality books to distribute at well child visits. It also reaches out to families through Carilion NRV's parenting classes with an informational powerpoint and free board books. Books are purchased and given at Title 1 family nights and other community events like Belle Heth Makers Faire and Radford Chamber of Commerce's Rollin' on the River.
Additionally Project CRIB established and maintains three Little Free
Libraries in the city. Funding for this project specifically purchases books for children in Radford and the New River Valley.
