Since its inception in 2009, Sustain Floyd has focused on sustainability issues through locally based projects including the Floyd Farmers Market, Floyd Energy Fest, Film Series, Floyd Food Guide, The Personal Climate Pledge and continues to add new projects.
SustainFloyd is participating in this year’s GiveBig event because we need you! All our projects are brought to you from the passion of our board of directors, staff, and volunteers, but we need funding to keep them going and improving.

Help us continue to bring you the Farmers Market, Floyd Energy Fest, Guide to Floyd Food, and much more!

Last year, we brought you a walk-by recycling center in the Pavilion, extended the Farmers Market into the winter months, hosted a bigger Floyd Energy Fest, provided a free Guide to Floyd Food, and raised awareness for climate change in our county.

This year, we have plans on making everything we do bigger, better, and more interactive. We want YOU to feel connected to SustainFloyd with your participation. Join us in making our mission happen in 2019.

Without you and our community, SustainFloyd would not be able to succeed!

The Pavilion Recycling Center was what you helped us build last year with the 2018 fundraiser. We now have a beautiful recycling bin that allows walking traffic to discard metals, glass, plastic (1&2), magazines, and newspapers.

We are thrilled that you backed our recycling initiative and that it has impacted our community in a positive way.

The Third Annual Floyd Energy Fest is a whole day event with speakers, demonstrations, and a chance to learn more about renewable energy including wind and solar with industry professionals in the summer sun. Join us at Chantilly Farm on July 13th for this solar powered festival where kids are invited, too!

This year, we are collaborating with Virginia Tech to bring some incredible projects from the Industrial School for innovative ideas on harnessing renewable energy and promoting conservation. In the Chantilly Barn, you'll be able to meet the next generation of designers and see the top ten posters chosen by our Energy Committee.

A Guide to Floyd Good has been a wonderful resource to offer our town and our local food producers. This is a chance for free advertising and a way to showcase what Floyd County has to offer.

We have just launched our online version that will be more up-to-date, and our second print edition with updates and new articles, will be printed in May! Stay tuned for updates as we lead up to the spring update!

The Personal Climate Pledge has captured the attention of NPR and local TV stations, and with the help of the Community Foundation of the New River Valley, we have received a grant to get young people more involved in raising climate awareness.

We are partnering with Springhouse Community School and Floyd Creative Studios to give a voice to the kids of our county. They will be raising questions, researching, and filming themselves and family members about what they observe around them. We hope it'll create a listening project for the future as we see how things change.

When making your donation today, consider SustainFloyd so we can continue to bring education and awareness to our town and have it spread through the state, nation, and world.

Thank you from all of us at SustainFloyd.

SustainFloyd is a rural non-profit in the Blue Ridge Mountains that undertakes projects to support the environment, agriculture, renewable energy, and community well-being.
