New River Valley Leading Lights seeks to recognize volunteers from all sectors in the New River Valley who are making community changing impacts and serving as a model to inspire others.
All nominees are recognized at the annual April Awards Banquet. In 2014, 44 individuals were nominated for their outstanding volunteer work. Winners are selected in each category to receive the Leading Lights Award, honored with a plaque and $1,000 donation made in their name to the organization of their choice.
Established following the tragic shooting at Virginia Tech in 2007, Leading Lights was created by the German Club Alumni Foundation together with representatives from the nonprofit, faith and educational community, to recognize volunteers in three categories: youth, collegiate and community volunteers.
We sincerely hope you will choose to support this worthy effort to support and recognize the members of our community who give selflessly of their time and effort.
