Since 1941, Young Life has been making a difference in the lives of kids around the world because we are invited and supported by adults who care about kids in their community. Our staff and volunteer leaders are trained in time-tested methods of relating with adolescents, and they are equipped by a world-class organization dedicated to effective ministry. Young Life is in all 50 states and more than 90 countries, reaching nearly a million kids each year with the life- changing message of God’s love for them.
Young Life began with a few simple ideas about sharing the truth of God’s love with adolescents. Seven decades later, those simple ideas have become time-tested methods for reaching out to middle school, high school and college students in friendship and hope.
"Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well." -- 1 Thessalonians 2:8
Because kids don't care how much you know till they know how much you care, Young Life leaders show they care by going where kids are, meeting them as they are, believing in who they can be. Within Young Life we call the persistent going out into the world of kids "contact work," but kids just call it friendship.
"...but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." -- John 4:14
Kids need a place where they can laugh, play, sing and shout -- where they can drink life from a spring that "wells up." That place is Young Life club, where it's safe for them to encounter the truth about Christ, in a language they can understand, with the freedom to respond as they choose.
"Simon Peter answered Him, 'Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." -- John 6:68
Kids have the opportunity to learn more about these words of eternal life at Campaigners, our weekly Bible study, where they can go deeper with God and each other. Through study, service and leadership, kids grow in their faith, and we encourage them to celebrate this faith through participation in a local church.
"I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in Me will live, even though they die." -- John 11:25
For many of our high school friends, a week at Young Life camp is where they make the transition from death to life. Camp provides excitement, beauty, friendship, memories, and so much more. Our camps have been called resorts for teenagers, and that's our intent -- to give them the greatest week of their lives, full of fantastic adventures, delicious food, and the most incredible love story ever told.
The Committee is the foundation for Young Life in a local area. Each local area has a committee of adults who believes in the mission of Young Life: to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and to help them grow in their faith. The committee, comprised of parents, Young Life alumni and civic leaders, provides a foundation of financial, administrative and moral support for the local Young Life team.
You'll find adults from all different backgrounds, careers and churches, including moms and dads who care about kids. Oftentimes, new Young Life clubs start because of the interest and awareness created by the committee.
